Brittany Force Blasts to 343.16 Miles Per Hour – a New NHRA Top Fuel Record – During Friday Qualifying at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals in California

Literally born into the drag racing lifestyle, Brittany Force has already made quite a name for herself with a pair of world championships in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Top Fuel class.

But just like her father, drag racing legend John Force, Brittany gives the drag racing community more than just championships and victories to talk about, and she did it again with a new NHRA speed record last night in Sonoma, California.

Brittany had already established herself as one to watch for quick elapsed times and speeds in 2024, firmly holding the national elapsed time record at 3.623-seconds for the category, a mark she set in 2019.

But the speed record was also in her sights, and she started down the path of crushing that record in 2025. She reset the national speed record for the first time this year in Concord, North Carolina during the 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway, with a 341.59 mph blast during nighttime qualifying.

She upped the ante on the speed record less than a week ago, during final eliminations at the Northwest Nationals in Kent, Washington, where Brittany reset her own record to 341.85 mph on July 20th. This also put the Top Fuel speed record back on top of the sister Funny Car class, where Brittany’s teammate Austin Prock holds the mark with a 341.68 mph blast.

But last night in Sonoma, California during qualifying for the Sonoma Nationals, Brittany would raise the bar once again on speed, as she rocketed to a 3.64-second at 343.16 mph pass! This earned her the number one qualifying spot, with final qualifying on tap for today in Sonoma.

Consider that on this run, she also covered the eighth-mile distance, from a standing start, in 2.94 seconds and 304.94 MPH!!
