Route Revealed for Edelbrock Sick 66, and You Can Be a Part Of It

The official route for Edelbrock Sick 66 has been revealed! A total of 1444 miles, tracing Route 66, will make for the ultimate 100th anniversary celebration of the Mother Road.

There’s no road as iconic as Route 66, known by automotive enthusiasts worldwide. Driving on Route 66 stirs your emotions — and you will see the United States of America in a totally different way once you drive it. All kinds of landscapes, small towns to big cities, faded glory to exciting new additions.

Being the 100th anniversary of Route 66, there has never been a better time to drive it. Do you want to be the person who always says they will, or the person who actually did it? If you’re in the second group, Edelbrock Sick 66 is the event you need to be at, whether you are racing or joining the event as one of our many cruisers.

Remember, you don’t have to race to be a part of the event. You can cruise ANY car you like, whether it’s a classic or a grocery getter. To do that, become a part of the Sick Ward Cruisers, where you’ll get spectator entry into each race day, a window banner, an event shirt, and get to be an official part of the event. Get your Sick Ward cruiser tickets here.

Edelbrock Sick 66 will begin at Mo-Kan Dragway with tech and testing on September 26. From there the drive begins! We’ll visit iconic sights on the day one route, from the Gay Parita Gas Station to Uranus Fudge Factory.

After racing at Bonne Terre Drag Strip on day two, there’s visits to Bigfoot 4x4, Chain of Rocks Bridge, and the Pink Elephant Antique Mall, before finishing the day at Route 66 Motorheads Bar & Grill.

Midstate Dragway is up next and after a big day of racing there we’ll be visiting the arcades of downtown McLean, IL, and finishing up with a visit to the unique Wally’s gas station.

Day four is a dedicated drive day. The route stops by the Top Fuel Saloon, then continues to Joliet Prison, the site of the opening scene from the Blues Brothers film. Anyone wishing to complete Route 66 all the way into Chicago will have the option, but the route will turn around after Joliet and go back south on Route 66. Kick’s Bar & Grill will be provide a great pitstop on the way, before we visit the giants of Atlanta, IL. This big day finishes in Lincoln where checkpoint photos will be required with either the World’s Largest Covered Wagon or the World’s Largest Penny — take your pick.

It’s back to racing at Midstate Dragway, with this being the first Sick event to run a repeating schedule. We’re going to get really quirky with the checkpoints now, as the first two stops include an original brick section of Route 66 followed by an original concrete section imprinted with turkey tracks from 1920! The day wraps up with Weezy’s and Route 66 Creamery before cruising past St Louis.

Phew, hard to believe we still have a whole day of driving left! From Bonne Terre we will be heading to Meramec Caverns, one of the most popular tourist sights in America. This will be followed by the World’s Second Largest Rocker and the World’s Largest Gift Store. It’s then the final stretch, and our final checkpoint will be at 66 Sports Bar and Restaurant in Webb City, MO.

There will be over 200 of America’s fastest real street cars at Edelbrock Sick 66 including over 40 Gassers, all competing for the win! The Gassers are promising a fantastic show of burnouts, dry hops, wheelstands and racing action. Whether you are coming to Mo-Kan Dragway, Bonne Terre Drag Strip, or Midstate Dragway, now is the time to get your tickets and save $5 online.

While more and more of Route 66 disappears every year, it has also been adopted by preservationists and enthusiastic businesses across America who aim to protect the experience for future generations. A road trip on Route 66 should be on every bucket list!

There has never been a better time to say YES and join us on Edelbrock Route 66. Book your leave and make your plans NOW!

You can now see the Edelbrock Sick 66 route in full. Note that there are two parts of the event, with the first route showing Mo-Kan to Joliet, and the second showing Joliet to Mo-Kan.
