Iron Clad – Garrett Hall Combines A Gasser Vibe, with a 1971 Ford F-100, To Result in the ‘Iron Pyrite’, a Battle-Tested Gasser Ready for Edelbrock Sick 66!

After a solid showing of Gassers during the Edelbrock Sick Smokies event in 2025, Sick The Magazine once again made them a featured class for our final drag and drive of 2026, Sick 66 presented by Edelbrock.

The Gasser category can showcase a wide variety of rides, and one of those that has done multiple events in the last year is this 1971 Ford F-100 pick-up of Garrett Hall. After several events this year, including a pair of drag and drive events, Hall now prepares for another fall adventure on the Edelbrock Sick 66 event.

“The '71, or the Gold Truck as we called it, it sat for a few months as we wrapped up other projects,” said Hall. With the original 360 cubic inch engine already out and needing some love, Hall searched for some other options. After thinking over some options, the truck got a 545 cubic inch big block Ford combination.

The truck got a revamp with slotted mags, some gold lettering, and hit the road and the track for some solid appearances. In 2026, Hall has made his way to multiple events, including a pair of drag and drive events so far, the Mickey Thompson Turn & Burn in May, and Buckeye Skip’s in July.

The latter of the two events found Hall standing atop the Gasser category, and he reflected on it on social media. “It's been a wild ride, said Hall. “I call it a win for the Jones Equipment Company crew. All the guys and gals that've helped. I appreciate the hell out of it! I've said it before, Iron Pyrite is so much more than just a truck to me. It's my spending time with friends; it's my stress relief and my passion.”

The third and final drag and drive for the truck will be this month’s Edelbrock Sick 66, where it will compete amongst more than 40 gassers for a week of drag racing, and over 1400 miles of street cruising.

Edelbrock Sick 66 will be at Mo-Kan Dragway, Bonne Terre Drag Strip and Midstate Dragway from September 26th to October 3rd, 2026. Get your spectator tickets online now and save $5, kids 12 and under are free! For more event information head to www.sickthemagazine.com/sick-66.
