Rick and Jacki Steinke Will Pilot the Sick BBQ / Ice Cream Truck on this year’s Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive

A common sight at both Sick the Magazine events and other drag-and-drives as well, the Sick BBQ truck has become a common sight. Converted by 417 Motorsports for its duties, the truck features include air ride suspension, hot dog rollers, and massive cooler space.

For the 2024 edition of Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, the Sick BBQ truck will be distributing massive amounts of food throughout the week to participants, and that job will be handled by Rick and Jacki Steinke.

No strangers to the drag-and-drive world, Rick started participating in 2016 on Hot Rod Drag Week with his first car, a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu.

Despite appearances to the contrary, the classic Chevy known as ‘Honk if Parts Fall Off’ is a solid mid 8-second performer, and wife Jacki joined Rick on the drag-and-drive lifestyle as both a co-pilot, then later in her own ride, a supercharged 1994 Ford Mustang.

Jason Sack distributes ‘breakfast sausages’ at Tri-State during the 2023 Sick Summer event.

“The Sick BBQ truck is an iconic ride,” said Rick. “Combined, Jacki and I have competed in eleven drag-and-drive events, so I feel we’re a great team to do this. Granted we’re no Jason Sack or Rich Pedraza, but we’ll bring our own unique flavor.”

Rick and Jacki have also hauled a freezer on the back of his drag-and-drive trailer in the past, distributing ice cream to fellow event participants. “Following Hot Rod Drag Week 2023, it is clear that I am Ice Cream transportation specialist,” said Rick. “For Jacki and I, we’re more about the experiences of a drag-and-drive. The racing is a bonus. We’re as excited about this as we are about Sick 66 later in the year.”
