Chuck Marlatt Leads The Way in Sick Michigan Miles Testing
Sick Michigan Miles Presented By Driven Racing Oil is underway with tech and testing taking place today at Mid-Michigan Motorplex.
Well over 200 teams have been checked into the event, with every vehicle checked for street legal features as well as safety for the track, before being let loose on the eighth-mile!
The most impressive run of day zero came courtesy of Chuck Marlatt’s supercharged Camaro, flying to a 4.953 at 145 mph. Should he match the time in competition tomorrow, it would be the quickest pass ever seen at Sick Michigan Miles!
Do you live for the horsepower adventure? Get the gear.
Last year’s winner Aydan Bailey seems to be having some issues with his ’57 Chevy wagon. After a promising early shutoff 5.5-second pass, Bailey couldn’t keep the car fired on his next run and was chasing an electrical issue in the pits throughout the afternoon.
Jon Moore should be in the hunt for the overall win with his rapid Crown Victoria. He will have to try and keep his wheelstands under control, with the four-door hunting for the sky on a couple of occasions.
Connor Leimenstoll has taken over the wheel of father Rob’s Chevy Nova. This is a 6-second car on the quarter and should be more than capable of fours on the eighth, but getting traction proved tricky in testing.
Supercharger wiz Darren Mayer is back for more, taking over the wheel of the Smokies Garage Dodge Challenger.
Sick Summer winner Eric Bjerketvedt is back for more in the Bukshot Camaro. He went 5.36 today, right up against his 5.35 tech limit.
Lots of variety in the pits as usual!
