The First Drag and Drive In Maine, Pistons In The Pines, Finds Philip Nadeau Topping the Winner List, While Dan Dinan Scores Second Win In-A-Row in New Car!

A state that can provide some of most scenic views no matter where you travel, Maine provided the basis for the first annual Pistons In The Pines drag and drive event.

Held over a three-day format, the event started at Fernald Field Dragway on Thursday, July 23rd, then traveled through ‘The Pine Tree State’ to the second track, New Oxford Dragway, for racing on Friday, July 24th. Competitors would then return to Fernald Field Dragway for their final on-track action on Saturday, July 25th, plus the crowning of champions in six classes.

Sometimes being able to see the big picture, even if it means regrouping and not attending an event, can be the right move for a competitor.

In the case of Sean Lemire and his 1972 Chevrolet Nova, he was lined up to attend a pair of drag and drive events in 2024, but the Nova didn’t make the trip. Lemire chose to work on a few issues instead, and when he and the Nova made their first appearance at Hot Rod Drag Week in 2025, it was a memorable one.
