The Details of Sick Ward, and the Sick Spit Show & Shine – How You Can Participate in a Sick The Magazine Event in 2026!

After a decade of participating in drag and drive events, Sick The Magazine hosted our first event in 2022, Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive. 2026 will mark a five-year anniversary for the Sick Week event, and since then we have added in the Motion Raceworks Sick Summer event, plus two to four more events each year.

We realize that an event is not just about the results and the awards, but “For The Adventure” as Tom Bailey, founder of Sick The Magazine, has stated since we started. That philosophy plays into not only how we approach each event, but also looks beyond the competition, including our Summit Racing Equipment Sick Ward Presented by PEAK Performance, and Sick Spit Show & Shine options.

Sick the Magazine is gearing up for a solid 2026, as we will host FIVE drag-and-drive events! Make plans to join us at one (or more) of our events next year: Gear Vendors Overdrive Sick Week, Motion Raceworks Sick Summer, Sick Michigan Miles, Sick 66, and Sick On The Green. For more information and details on these events, visit the Sick The Mag events page by CLICKING HERE!

“When we first created Sick Ward, I wanted it to include the drag and drive experience,” said Tom Bailey. “But, give the participants some extra perks, including parking in the pits, as well as snacks and drinks.”

After a full year of hosting the events in 2023, the Sick The Mag team started hearing from more than just a few Sick Ward participants that while they enjoyed the idea, some changes would be nice. We reflected on it, and by the Motion Raceworks Sick Summer of 2024, changes were in place.

“I understood the changing dynamic,” Tom said. “But there are some truly sweet rides that I felt deserved to have a special place to park in the pits to share with the enthusiasts. I’m still amazed at the level of track ready rides, but also show quality rides, that join us and support us at Sick The Mag events.”

The new format, which will be carried into our week-long events for 2026, has two levels to allow you to experience a Sick The Magazine event, whether it is our staple Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive and Sick Summer Presented by Motion Raceworks, or one of our ‘one-off’ unique events that changes year to year.

A ticket for the Summit Racing Equipment Sick Ward Presented by PEAK Performance is a spectator ticket for all track days, that includes not only a discount over an individual spectator ticket, but also some bonuses!

A Sick Ward ticket to any Sick drag and drive event covers one person and general spectator parking for all track days, and in addition to saving a good chunk off individual day tickets, it includes a Sick Ward windshield banner and participant t-shirt. There is no limit on Sick Ward tickets, so you can buy them for just you, or if you’re bringing your girlfriend, wife, or family, save some coin and go Sick Ward tickets to participate in a Sick event!

Sick Ward is also invited to join us for dinner at the beginning and/or end of the events, and we will typically have sponsor giveaways at the awards ceremony on the final day (subject to track and on-site sponsor attendance).

For those that want the next level of Sick Ward participation, the Sick Spit Show & Shine is the ticket. We reserve an area in the pits at each track we visit for those modified, classic and/or unique machines to park and display in. Depending on the event, it could be a smaller number of rides, so we review all applications to determine the rides to be displayed. There are even awards in play for Sick Spit Show & Shine participants (depending on the number of entries).

Interested in entering the Sick Spit Show & Shine? Here’s how to do it:

Once you have your Sick Ward ticket purchased, e-mail us at derek@sickthemagazine.com with the following format and information:

  • Your e-mail subject line should include one of the following: ‘Sick Week Sick Spit Show & Shine application’ – ‘Sick Summer Sick Spit Show & Shine application’ - ‘Sick Michigan Miles Sick Spit Show & Shine application’ or ‘Sick 66 Sick Spit Show & Shine application’

  • Your full name and e-mail address (as well the name and e-mail you purchased the Sick Ward entry under if it is different).

  • Tell us about your ride!! Basic details are okay, but a little more isn’t a bad idea here to help us make a decision.

  • Attach some photos – notice we used the plural of the word. Again, several clear photos that show us multiple angles on the vehicle helps. Don’t forget to show the engine, the interior, and anything else you think makes your ride stand out!

Once we have those details, we will take a look at all the details and decide if your vehicle is Sick enough to join the Sick Spit Show & Shine.

“We’re appreciative of the large number of drag and drive enthusiasts that want to join us at a Sick The Magazine event each year,” said Tom Bailey. “After a few years of talking to our Sick Ward participants and listening to their feedback, we hit on the right balance for the Sick Ward part for all of our 2025 events. We’ll continue that format for 2026.”
