Tom Bailey Aims to Take Sick The Mag’s Kart Kaos by Storm on December 11th at Fastimes Indoor Karting during PRI Show Week

Created as a way to kick off the first night of the Performance and Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis, Sick The Magazine hosted Kart Kaos at Fastimes Indoor Karting for the first time in 2022. With the PRI show ending at 5 p.m., 4-person teams made their way to Fastimes for testing and qualifying rounds, and ultimately shooting for a chance to take home their share of the $2000 purse.

A solid list of teams and drivers have populated the indoor karting venue during the PRI show every December since that first night, but Tom Bailey and the Sick The Mag team have failed to land the top spot. That stat, combined with feedback from other teams and drivers, has led to multiple changes for the 2025 edition of Sick The Mag’s Kart Kaos.

“When we first started Kart Kaos in 2022, it was a gathering of fellow drag and drive competitors, as well as some great Sick The Mag sponsors, for a fun evening at Fastimes,” said Tom Bailey. “But the competition turned out better than expected, so it was a hit right from the start.”

As the event returned in 2023 and 2024, Bailey noticed some things in how teams were assembled, as well as the drivers selected. “Some teams were all employees of a sponsor, while others were stacked with flat-out solid drivers,” Bailey said. “We knew some teams might recruit some talent, and the times turned on the track reflect it.”

Combined with more people that wanted to participate in the event, Bailey saw a way to level the playing field, as well as give possible competitors a fair shot. So, for the 2025 Sick The Magazine Kart Kaos, we will be bringing in more possible drivers than ever before, and introducing the ‘Schoolyard Pick’ to level the teams and see who emerges on top.

“Every year, more and more people asked me how to get a chance in Kart Kaos,” said Bailey. “So, we’re opening it up for people to submit their information, and then will choose 80 names to get a chance to wheel a kart in Indy.”

For those 80 lucky hopefuls, getting selected is stage one. Stage two is the qualifying session, and from that session, the eight teams will select four drivers each for the competition to see who wins the overall title.

“Driven Racing Oil has scored the win the last two years,” Bailey said. “And they’ve had some serious drivers. For 2025, some of those team members could end up on another team with the ‘Schoolyard Pick.’ Some teams will try and stay loyal to past members, while some will take the best qualifiers.

“I’m ready to win this time; I want the best drivers. This year should be some intense competition, and the fairest way to have more people race and the teams be balanced.”
