Combining cool Florida winter air, top-notch track prep at each and every track, and popular checkpoints / stops along the way, Sick Week has proven to be a popular destination since it was first contested in 2022.

After four days of sun, drizzle, breakage and bad-ass runs, competition was wrapped up just short of midnight on Sunday night for the eleventh running of FL2K at Bradenton Motorsports Park.

“Drag-and-drive events are pure chaos, like Tortuga in Pirates of the Caribbean. With the color of the car being Nassau Blue, I think Tortuga is the name of our new hot rod.”

Brett LaSala, who captured the Modified class win at this year’s Sick Week, rolled into FL2K sporting a new pair of Precision Turbo Next Gen 80-millimeter turbochargers on his 2012 Ford Mustang, Snot Rocket.

Mike Swindoll’s 1968 Chevrolet Malibu flew under the radar at the 2023 edition of Sick Week, but with the changes he’s made since February, he’ll be standing out like a diamond now!

The Redwood Rally, a new event for 2023, covered nearly 700 miles of Pacific Northwest roads between Coos Bay Speedway, Medford Dragstrip, Redding Dragstrip and Samoa Dragstrip.

Rocky Mountain Race Week strode across the plains to Kearney, Nebraska for the second day of competition, after a drive day to cover the almost 500 mile distance between there and Pueblo, Colorado.

“I took about 3 years off from racing to help customers and friends of mine at the track. My nephew, Kevin Kelley Jr., approached me wanting to run his car in Sick Week. I have been wanting to do a drag-and-drive for a while, so that was the push I needed.” 

“I’m looking forward to the experience at Death Week. I’ve wanted to do Sick Week for so long. And being able to experience the drag-and-drive atmosphere is something I’m very excited about.”

Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 is underway, in an event that is the ‘last of an era’ for drag-and-drive’s second longest running fixture.

To this point, Greg Stanfield’s Chevrolet Camaro has been the most talked-about car, but the Ford Mustang contingent, as well as the lone Dodge Challenger of the class are closing the gap.

“I think Death Week will be a combination of adventure and challenge. I also really enjoy the camaraderie of everyone. Hanging out and helping people along the way really makes these events great.”

This wrecked 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was originally supposed to be just a donor car, but for Jarrod Aspegren, his plans changed, and more than just once.

The track, which was original built in 1964 on a 198-acre parcel of land, has been under the care of the Smith family since 1971. The National Hot Rod Association sanctioned track runs a variety of events, including specialty races with funny cars and nitro dragsters, as well as bracket races.

As stated by David Freiburger since the beginning of the drag-and-drive movement: it’s normally not the racing that puts people on the sidelines during a drag-and-drive, it’s the ‘drive’ portion.

There are many ways to go drag racing, but Sick The Magazine’s Death Week event might just be the most unusual. Following on from the success of drag-and-drive events such as Sick Week, Hot Rod Drag Week and Rocky Mountain Race Week, Sick The Magazine publisher and six-times Drag Week winner Tom Bailey wanted to create a challenge that would reset the boundaries for fast, street legal cars.
