After two drive days, Ken arrived in Bakersfield, California and Famoso Drag Strip for the third track day. But just two passes later, he was left with a smoking and wounded Dart, and some decisions to make.

The 352 Shootout was recently held during Halloween weekend at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida, and and some Sick Week participants made final round appearances.

Drag-and-drive events have traditionally included competitors and cruisers that have traveled great distances to participate in the event. But what Daniel Grubaugh pulled off to complete the first-and-only Death Week is a trip of an entirely different kind.

Just nine days ago, the tech in process began for those brave souls willing to take on the ultimate proving grounds for a street car: Death Week. It was down to a Sunday track day; one pass was all that stood between competitors saying they could look Death in the eyes and defeat it, earning the first-ever skull trophy from Sick the Magazine for their efforts.

Today, it’s back to where it all started: Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona for the final track day of Death Week. Who will complete the week with the best average and win the first Death Week champion helmet?

Will there ever be another drag-and-drive event like Death Week? It’s unlikely. Never before have so many sights been crammed into just a few days. From the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip to the spectacular surrounds of the Grand Canyon, the Death Weekers have seen it all over the past few days as they returned to Phoenix for the final day of racing.

Famoso Drag Strip provide the ‘hook and book’ with cool air and lots of wheelstands Wednesday night. But we need to get back to Nevada, so Death Week got back on the road for a full drive day on Thursday.

Day five of Death Week would start with a choice: visit the Sequoia National Forest, just peek into the surrounding park area, or head straight to Famoso Drag Strip?

Has there ever been a day of drag racing quite this epic? Much of the field (including event leader Jaosn Rousseau) drove through Sequoia National Park and then raced at the legendary Famoso Drag Strip. Check out the wild images below!

The second dedicated drive day for Death Week brought the tour close to shoreline once again, then through some narrow and twisting roads, and finally wide-open landscapes as day four was moved to the ‘completed’ side of the ledger.

Another drive day saw the teams of Death Week move north. While we have plenty of images from the ones we saw on the road, we know for a fact that dozens of racers are racking up additional miles playing tourists everywhere from Mooneyes to Disney. With visits today to Morro Rock and the James Dean Memorial, racers are now situated for a run through the Sequoia National Park before racing at Famoso Drag Strip from 5pm to 9pm.

With two days of driving and racing were in the books, Death Week rolled into Monday with the first of two dedicated drive days on the docket.

After two days of racing, day three of Death Week was purely about the driving. And what a drive it was along the beaches and through Los Angeles! Check out the photos below.

Day one of the epic trip known as Death Week was upon us, and the lanes were packed and ready to go by 9:30 a.m.

The craziest, most insane event in the history of street car drag racing is underway with Death Week taking to the track at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

The months of planning, testing and plotting a “let’s have fun” but “can we survive” strategy is about to be put to the test; it’s tech inspection and testing day for Death Week at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

When Geoff Dugapolski started out at Hot Rod Drag Week, it was in a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu, a “rusty junky” Malibu in his words. “After getting into Hot Rod Magazine’s coverage two times with my Malibu, I thought I should try something nicer.”

The third track on the epic adventure known as Death Week, is also the one with the most history – Famoso Drag Strip, and we will visit it on Wednesday, October 25th in the later afternoon / evening.
