The drag-and-drive community has seen quite a few distinct vehicles, and one of them may have a new owner soon.

Normally if you have drag-and-drive tech guy Keith Turk’s attention, something has gone very wrong. But a pinkish-red ’67 Mustang captured his imagination at Sick Summer earlier this year for all the right reasons.

“I have always loved the second-generation look, and was planning on a Camaro, but this came available.”

NHRA’s announcement of Tony Stewart joining the Top Fuel tour was billed as one of the biggest announcements in the history of the organization.

Event coverage for Sick Week Presented By Gear Vendors Overdrive and Motion Raceworks Sick Summer will be stepping up to the next level in 2024 with the announcement that the events will be streamed on the FRDM+ platform.

“Sick Summer 2023 was an epic event; it is the coolest event from a fan perspective that I’ve ever been to. The amount of support we got from fans on the side of the road holding signs, to the fans support at the tracks.”

Despite the change to refine the Corvette, Stefan has an even bigger plan in the works: A carbon fiber-bodied 1970 Camaro for the 2025 drag-and-drive season.

“It is an identical car to my high school car, down to the year and gray interior, which is less common in those cars.”

“I basically took the rest of 2023 off from racing and drag-and-drive. I put the ’55 Chevy in time out.”

The drag-and-drive landscape changed dramatically in 2023, as class performances and car builds have changed, some events have changed or added classes to stay current with times and look at what the future could bring.

For Vinnie Barbone, his latest car build surrounds a model that enjoyed popularity in the drag racing world in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, but is rarely seen on the street.

Bradenton Motorsports Park is hosting the 52nd Annual Snowbird Outlaw Nationals November 30th through December 3rd, and testing this week has resulted in the quickest quarter-mile pass for a door car changing hands.

Although it seems there are plenty Coyote-swapped, Terminator-swapped and LS-swapped Mustang, in the case of Mike Cataline, he’s a dyed-in-the-wool pushrod blue oval man, and this 1987 Mustang is a car he’s been refining for nearly a quarter-century.

“I originally bought the 4-door Nova only for the fenders to use on the car in the body shop. But I got it, then discovered it was a 40,000-survivor car, and I couldn’t bring myself to dismantle it.”
