At what we call ‘day zero’ of Sick Week 2024 Presented By Gear Vendors Overdrive, racers were teched in and then got a chance to test out the incredible racing surface at Orlando Speed World. Although Sunday also marks the last chance for Sick Week competitors to get some testing time on the track before the event officially gets underway, there have been several cars testing during the week, as well as those thrashing to get things buttoned up to make to Orlando in time.

“Currently I’m on the mindset of I’m going to win Sick Week and go really fast, or I’m going home broken. I’ve finished a bunch; I want to focus more of winning.”

Each and every year at the KSR Performance & Fabrication shop in Gainesville, Florida, dozens of Sick Week and Sick Ward participants and enthusiasts gather to see what has become an annual burnout party.

The original drag-and-drive, Hot Rod Drag Week, has released the track line-up for their 20th anniversary of the iconic event that will be held Sunday September 15th through Friday September 20th.

At Bradenton Motorsports Park today, Todd Moyer delivered one of the greatest runs in the history of drag racing with a stunning 5.144 at 273.44mph in his turbocharged Camaro, running in outlaw trim.

After a successful appearance on Sick Week in 2023, this blue Camaro will once again participate on Sick Week, but husband Ben will give the steering wheel duties to wife Amber. “Derek (Putnam, Sick Week announcer) kept saying Amber thought she could do better. So she's bound to try.”

For his third-straight Sick Week appearance in 2024, Derek Bieri will bring a new pair of rides to the drag-and-drive party, both sporting big-block Chevy power in cool blue hues.

Sick Week 2024 Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive will play host to big moments for two couples, with both a wedding and a gender reveal set to start the week.

This 1993 Mustang Cobra, one of just 4,993 produced, doesn’t lead a pampered life where some would judge it based on correct factory parts, but instead cracks off 9-second runs with a stick shift in the tunnel as the factory intended!

“We’re not looking for a ton more horsepower, just trying to make the right changes and get the overall run better. 215 mph last year shows we were on the right track.”

A drag racer since he got his license at age 16, Chris Rizro hopes to redeem himself and “finish while actually running to potential” in 2024.

Cadillac Attack offers private testing, plus a top 32 qualifier Sick Shootout with the winner collecting a $2000 payout, runner-up getting $500, and the finalists will get an entry into Sick Week if they are not already entered.

With over 60 years in racing, including racer, track worker, promoter and manager, Carl was a big part of expanding drag racing in not just the central part of the state of Florida, but on a much bigger scale.

The response to both has been a combination of shock and awe, as well as wondering who might step up to take possession of these 6-second and 7-second proven rides.
