Want to Race Your Street Car in Las Vegas? A New Level of “Street” Could Be in the Works for the Street Car Super Nationals, and Sick The Magazine Needs Your Help!
Many race series and classes that include ‘street’ in the name did start with either a car that could’ve been a streetable car, or a car that could pass for a streetable looking car. And although some of them have moved into a pure race car class, Tom Bailey and Sick The Magazine are looking into bringing the ‘street’ back to the popular Street Car Super Nationals (SCSN) event.
Bailey and SCSN promoter Mel Roth recently discussed adding a 8-car shootout to this year’s event, being held November 19th-22nd, 2026 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, that encapsulates the drag and drive vibe – and we need to hear if you’re interested!

“The SCSN event is a big show,” said Bailey. “Historically, there’s been some solid performances there. But when you think of an event with ‘street’ in the name, it makes me think of drag and drive. So, Mel and I talked about a new idea to showcase those rides.”
To qualify for this 8-car shootout, a potential competitor must apply with a vehicle that has completed a drag and drive event. The competitors would get shots at the track each day during qualifying days, then a three round elimination format to determine a winner.
What’s up for grabs to the winner? A Sick The Magazine helmet, a highly desired trophy. The vehicles would not only compete on the track, but only participate in a street cruise down the Vegas Strip.
There have been several 5-second and 6-second performances from past SCSN events courtesy of former drag and drive event champions, including 5-time Hot Rod Drag Week champion Larry Larson, who clocked a 5.95 at 244 mph blast during the 2014 edition of SCSN.
