Jack Weatherford Looks to Tame This ‘Beast’ ’55 Chevrolet for Gear-Jamming Quick Runs and An Epic Adventure on Edelbrock Sick Smokies!
We first saw Jack Weatherford and his classic Gasser Chevrolet at the opening event of the 2025 drag and drive season, Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive.
His second appearance at a Sick The Mag event in 2025 will be Edelbrock Sick Smokies, where Weatherford looks to not only improve his performance and compete with 70-plus Gasser rides, but possibly bring along a couple people that played a role in the iconic movie ‘Two Lane Blacktop.’
Jack’s 1955 Chevy is just one of 70-plus GASSERS registered for our Edelbrock Sick Smokies ent, our final drag and drive of 2025, October 12-19th, 2025! 7 days cruising the South, including Tail Of The Dragon, with over 250 total competitors! Discounted advanced spectator tickets, as well as Sick Ward / Sick Spit Show & Shine entries are available - CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE about Sick Smokies!!
Weatherford’s 1955 Chevrolet, originally purchased in 1992 from a junk yard for a mere $500 and a broke Muncie manual transmission, combines together cues from the classic hot rod film, as well as a theme from the ‘Nightmare before Christmas’ movie.
The Florida resident is looking to improve his performance with 10-second goals, and living in the sunshine state gives him the opportunity to race a bit more. “(I need to) get ‘the Beast’ to hookup at each track,” Weatherford said of his plans at Edelbrock Sick Smokies.
Running test and tunes at multiple tracks around Florida, including Leadfoot City, Showtime Dragway, Orlando Speed World and Bradenton Motorsports Park, will help Weatherford to dial in his new 400 cubic inch small block engine, which is backed by a Tremec TKO manual transmission.
Although the chance to be one of over 70 Gassers for an epic drag and drive would be enough to excite most, Weatherford is planning to up the ante. He is working on possibly being joined on Sick Smokies by fellow ‘Two Lane Blacktop’ enthusiast, and the movie’s ‘55 Chevy camera car current owner, David, as well as car builder Richard Ruth.
Could this qualify as one of the coolest rides on Sick Smokies? Can Weatherford’s new driveline stand up to the large field of competitors? Don’t miss your chance to see over 200 competitors, and the largest gathering of street-legal Gassers, on the Edelbrock Sick Smokies event, October 12th-19th! CLICK HERE for more details!
