Michigan Eighth-Mile – A Brand New Drag Strip is Coming to Michigan by August 2026, and You Might Be Surpised Where It’s Going!
Billed as the “ultimate destination for automotive enthusiasts”, M1 Concourse has been the source for both automotive and entertainment events for over a decade. With 87 acres dedicated to combining private garages and a road course throughout, the facility has played host to several events.
But 2026 will see a major change at M1 Concourse, as the facility will add a drag strip to its offerings, with a scheduled launch date of August 22nd, 2026. We’ve got exclusive video below with more details!

The M1 Concourse traces its history back to 1905, when the property was employed by the Rapid Motor Company. General Motors Truck Company would become the next deed holder, remaining until 2008.
When M1 Concourse acquired the property in 2014, the vision of becoming Michigan’s premier motorsports and entertainment venue was hatched. But to add the drag strip to the property adds a whole new level to the potential of M1 Concourse in the future.
This new update won’t be the first time M1 Concourse has hosted a drag race, as in 2024 the Roadkill Nights event would take over the facility. But instead of the street racing happening on Woodward Avenue as it had in years past, a straight section of M1 Concourse’s road course was employed to host the drag racing portion.
The first renderings of the update with the drag strip were shared to social media a few days ago, but Sick the Magazine’s own Tom Bailey recently toured the facility for some exclusive looks at the new drag strip!
