Mike Finnegan Will Combine Family Time and Fast Stick Shift Blasts, As He Preps the ‘Blasphemi’ ’55 Chevy for Sick On The Green This Week!

Considering he has experienced waves of success with his ’55 Chevy known as Blasphemi, Mike Finnegan’s thought is keeping his foot on the pedal!

So, he’s bringing his supercharged HEMI-powered classic Chevy to this week’s Sick On The Green, and it might even getting double class duty!

Sick The Mag’s Sick On The Green - is May 29th-31st at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky. We’re bringing 9 classes to the party, including STICK SHIFT, the popular LIL GANGSTA’S class with $10K on the line and our new SICK STREET CAR CHALLENGE class with $32,000 up for grabs!! It all takes place THIS WEEK in Bowling Green, Kentucky! For more details on Sick On The Green, including discounted advance tickets and entries, and details on over $60K in payouts, CLICK HERE!

Even though he has two more projects in the works, a ’61 Cadillac and a 2018 Lexus LC500, it’s been hard for Finnegan to stop focusing on the ’55 Chevy. “I haven’t seen the Lexus in a while,” Finnegan said, as it’s been under the knife getting a complete revamp on the cage and chassis at RK Racecraft.

“The Caddy’s chassis just got painted. The next thing is to join the body and frame, and then start building the floor and adding the wheel tubs. Then the engine. I don’t have a timeline yet, but I’m getting excited about it.”

“And Blasphemi has been getting better, and we’ve been learning what works,” Finnegan continued. “We’re doing Sick On The Green, Hot Rod Drag Week, and Sick Smokies. I’m enjoying the car right now.”

On the subject of enjoying the car, Finnegan is looking forward to Sick On The Green for more reasons than just the racing. “I have never been to the waterpark (at Beech Bend Raceway Park),” said Finnegan. “And I haven’t rode the coaster in a while, so I’m excited to head back. Plus, I’m bringing the family with me.”

Finnegan’s oldest son rode with him during the cruise at Sick At The Rock, and helped with some maintenance. “As much as he would enjoy the rides at the track, I think he’ll want to do the cruise with me again,” said Finnegan. “My wife might not ride with me in Blasphemi. She has standards.

“The circumstances at Sick At The Rock were interesting compared to other drag and drive events I’ve attended. When I went to turn in my time slip, most people were still making runs, so I debated whether to turn it in or not.”

His decision to hand in the slip in the Sick Street Car Challenge was a good one, as Finnegan scored not only the Gasser category win, but also the Stick Shift category as well. “Winning one category was cool, let alone two,” Finnegan said. “But getting the big check to take home was a big deal. That, plus Blasphemi hauling butt on the track.”

With his focus on the Sick Street Car Challenge class, Finnegan is looking at it as a prelude to Sick Smokies. “I hope to see more Gassers in Kentucky,” said Finnegan. “With over 80 of them coming to Sick Smokies this year, I hope to see some of them this week for fun and some cool competition.”
