Sick Prep Going Beyond ‘Track Prep’ as They Gear Up for 2026
In a day when cars continue to get quicker, the demands on tracks to raise their game on surface prep and management of an event also move up a few notches.
With the knowledge base of working a variety of events, on different tracks and different conditions, Sick Prep brings a complete team to make a successful event from the track surface to the tower.
Sick the Magazine is READY for a solid 2026, as we will host FIVE events, four of them as a major week-long drag and drive event! Make plans to join us at one (or more) of our events: Gear Vendors Overdrive Sick Week, Motion Raceworks Sick Summer, Driven Racing Oil Sick Michigan Miles, Edelbrock Sick 66, and Speedfest. “We like partnering with good people and business owners,” said Tom Bailey. “Thomas (Bemis) knowledge of prep and working with him in the past gave us the chance to bring track prep into the forefront, especially with drag and drive events.”
“We don’t exist inside a bubble,” said Bemis. “If you’re going off of a playbook, or doing the same thing because it’s what people want to see, then you’re not doing it right. Everything keeps changing underneath you and above you, and it’s about creating a consistent surface.”
“We want the cars and tuners to determine the races, not the race track,” Bemis said. That goes beyond what you see, with the prep work in the days before the gates swing open for an event to start. “There are ten thousand pieces to a record-setting pass, and the track prep team is three of them, but it’s three very important pieces.”
“Part of that prep work is creating equipment, selling that equipment (to the track), and coming up with better ways to do the processes better,” said Bemis. “It’s about creating a relationship with the tracks, so the racing can be as good as possible.”
Sick Prep already has events lined up on a variety of racing avenues, handling the track prep from the TB Promotions bracket racing series, to the legendary TX2K next month.
