A New Track Breaks Ground to Begin Construction in Northeast Florida, and Could see Drag Racing Action By May 2026!
After having four tracks closed in the last decade, Florida finally got a win light when information was relayed about a pair of tracks in the planning stages, or starting construction, in early 2024.
One of those tracks, Lead Foot City, was completed on the west side of the state in Brooksville in time to see racing action by December of 2024. Today, it was announced that Hicken Power Drag Strip had broken ground to start construction on a track in northeast Florida.

We first reported on Concho Valley Dragway’s concept in April, and just 34 days after ground-breaking, the track surface had been poured in concrete, and the return road, pit area and staging lanes has also been completed in asphalt.

Justin Harvey admitted the amount of street racing around the area had gotten to such a peak, that either a street permit to do something, or building a race track were the likely solutions.
