In the last month, three race tracks have either gone up for sale, changed hands or closed in the United States.

Chilton County Motorsports Park is for sale, Darlington Dragway changed hands to new owner John Dougherty, and Thunder Valley Raceway Park closed their gates.

Now, a fourth track has joined the list, as the morning of August 7th, Eddyville Raceway Park joined the ‘for sale’ listings.

With a rich history that dates back over six decades, it may surprise some that Milan Dragway has hit the ‘for sale’ market. The track has played host to a number of big events over its history, including stops on this year’s Hot Rod Drag Week and Heads Up Hustle drag-and-drive events.

But unlike most tracks with ‘for sale’ signs in the window, Perry Merlo and co-owner Harold Bullock have plans for an active 2025 season, whether a buyer comes along or not.

We’ve discussed several tracks closing up shop for alternative uses of the land in the last year, but we’ve also seen tracks come back to life after sitting for several years, including Skyview Drags in New York. But is the future in doubt after the track has been listed for sale?

Despite a good number of drag tracks closing down in 2023, the racing community has seen some rays of light as new tracks are constructed, or tracks that have not been in operation for a while are getting a second chance to showcase the sport again.
