The Tightest Race at Sick Week – William Lujan and Jordan Boudreaux Contend for the Title in the 275 Street Race Class

The 2023 Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive provided for some close competition, and one of the closest classes was the 275 Street Race class. The class was separated by less than one-thousandth of-a-second on the top two spots in 2022, and with a stacked field of competitors, there was no doubt history could repeat in 2023.

The defending champ, William Lujan, would open the first day with an 8.506 pass. Last year’s Outlaw Street Race 235 champ Matt Lamphier produced an 8.509 for the second spot, and Mark Mannor stopped the clocks at an 8.512 for the third spot.

The move to Bradenton Motorsports Park for day two would have Jaeson Hager clocking a near-perfect 8.503, while Lujan ran an 8.53 to maintain the lead of the class. The third-place finisher at 2022 Sick Week, Jordan Boudreaux, was able to produce an 8.54 to jump into the top five.

Day three had Boudreaux climbing into the second spot thanks to an 8.50 pass, and when Lujan was only able to muster an 8.60, it brought the top two spots closer together.

The move from South Georgia Motorsports Park to Gainesville Raceway for day four had Boudreaux producing a second-straight 8.50. Lujan clocked his second-best pass of the week at 8.52, bringing the two competitors within one thousandth of-a-second heading into the final day.

At the final stop at Orlando ‘Sick’ World Dragway, Boudreaux hit the track first, and the scoreboard showed an 8.54. Lujan followed with an 8.54 as well, and throughout the day, neither competitor could improve. They even matched off with each other in the final session, and both drivers would fail to improve on their 8.54 timeslips.

When the final numbers were calculated, Lujan would average out at 8.542 to narrowly hold off Boudreaux’s 8.543 for the title. Mannor’s Chevelle would round out the top three.
