Bryant Goldstone Makes First Track Runs on New Drag and Drive ’53 Corvette During Mid-West Drag Racing Series at US-131 Motorsports Park!

Bryant Goldstone brings a wealth of not only drag and drive experience, but as the owner of an automotive shop, the knowledge that sometimes cars, repairs and timelines don’t always work out 100-percent.

When Goldstone debuted his new 1953 Chevrolet Corvette at the Performance and Racing Industry (PRI) show last December, it brought a lot of discussion about competing for the top of the pack in drag and drive.

But Goldstone spoke about wanting to get everything right, tested and ready before he competed in his first drag and drive event. After a couple of test runs at yesterday’s Mid-West Drag Racing Series event, he’s a little closer to that goal.

To recap, the majority of Goldstone’s accomplishments in drag and drive have come from his 1973 AMC Javelin, which recently scored its third-straight overall victory at Sick Summer Presented by Motion Raceworks. The AMC has been a solid ride, but Goldstone was ready for a new challenge.

Enter a former Pro Mod ’53 Chevrolet Corvette that Goldstone prepped for drag and drive duty, along with longtime friend Brian Robbins. After seeing the show floor at PRI, the Corvette went to fellow drag and drive competitor Devin Vanderhoof at HCR Innovations for wiring and plumbing.

“I’m coming for Tom Bailey,” Goldstone admitted. “To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best. 2025 might not be the best year, with trying to get a new car sorted out. But I’m excited about the challenge.”

Goldstone brought the car out to the recent HotRods by Havliks FSC Shootout Tribute event, but wasn’t quite ready yet for test runs. But on Thursday, September 4th, during testing for an event on the Mid-West Drag Racing Series at US-131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, Goldstone would slide behind the wheel of the Corvette for some test runs.

“Day one of testing with Bryant Goldstone new ‘53 Corvette drag and drive car,” said Robbins. “Was a struggle most of the morning, getting it to spool (the turbochargers), but finally made a good run on our second attempt.”

Although both attempts were early shut off passes, the second pass produced a 1.04 60 foot time, and Goldstone rolled through the eighth-mile mark at 4.31 seconds at 170 mph in the video below:

With Goldstone getting a later start to testing, there’s a chance he may not make an appearance with the new Corvette until 2026. That gives him a solid shot at the 2026 season-opening Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, and the Sick Bounties for not only the overall drag and drive record, but also the first 5-second drag and drive average.

Will Goldstone get either bounty, or both bounties, accomplished with his new car? Find out more information about Sick Week by CLICKING HERE.
