It’s the Final Days - You Could Win This ’65 Pontiac GTO in Sick The Magazine’s Giveaway – Don’t Miss Your Chance!
Recently, Tom Bailey and the Sick The Magazine crew introduced our ninth and latest vehicle giveaway, a 1965 Pontiac GTO. This car was built to be used on the street and the track, and we’ve tested and refined it for a new owner, which could be YOU! But the giveaway ends in just a few days!
A few of our previous giveaway rides were drag and drive style builds, and this Pontiac follows that outline of combining street-legal features and race-ready hardware. “There are not many GTO models for sale,” said Tom Bailey of Sick The Mag. “So, when I saw this GTO online, it spoke to me. One lucky winner will get a cool ride to hopefully do some events, and maybe a drag and drive as well.” - CLICK HERE FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN!!
The second year for the GTO nameplate, this 1965 model features a mix of original styling cues and some serious upgrades for quicker drag strip blasts. Sporting a 383 cubic inch small block Chevrolet engine with aluminum cylinder heads, the engine is set back in the engine bay for better weight transfer.
Backed by a Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission, the car has side exit exhaust, as well as a mini-tub to house the Weld Racing wheels with beadlocks and Mickey Thompson ET Street R 325/60/15 tires.
The interior is a mix of original cues with modern upgrades and safety necessities. A full roll cage surrounds aftermarket bucket seats with updated 5-point harnesses, a full array of Auto Meter gauges in the stock gauge location to keep tabs on the engine, a Nitrous Oxide Systems controller, and a Hurst shifter to control the transmission.
The GTO also has a stellar nitrous system, with the trunk featuring two separate fuel systems (one fuel cell for the engine-regular driving, and one for high octane fuel for the nitrous system). There are also two big bottles in the trunk to give you more nitrous runs before worrying about a refill!
After getting the car delivered to Michigan in the winter, Tom and crew had the chance to make some shakedown runs on the car at our Sick At The Rock event. They brought it back to Michigan, the Sick The Mag crew made some adjustments, and had the car going wheels up at the Cleetus and Cars Indy event in May.
Just a few weeks later, we rolled into Sick On The Green in Kentucky, and the nitrous system was in place and working, as well as the transbrake (helps launching at a higher rpm). The result by the end of the weekend was a couple big wheelies, another cruise completed, and the best runs the car has made yet.
“We purchased the car from a guy that needed the money to put together a Gasser entry for our upcoming Edelbrock Sick Smokies,” said Tom. “If you win the GTO, the car includes lifetime Sick Ward entries for all our events, just like all our giveaway vehicles. So, maybe you can join us for Sick Smokies, but you only have until June 28th to register to win.”
